National Higher Education Day

National Higher Education Day
History

National Higher Education Day was founded in February 2015 by Izamar Olaguez in an effort to convince United States students that higher education is for everyone and to promote college affordability.  The Registrar at National Day Calendar declared National Higher Education Day to be observed annually on June 6th.

In 2022, National Higher Education Day reached over 19 million people nationwide. Participants included multiple notable R1 universities, several large education-based non-profits, and many political figures at the local, state, and national levels.

In 2023, Emma Grimes was appointed the National Spokesperson. In this role, she will serve as the brand ambassador for National Higher Education Day.
"It is my desire to have a National Higher Education Day to educate and promote the many different ways students can fund their education. By having a National Day I will be able to inspire students of all ages to never give up on their dream of receiving a higher education degree!"
