FAFSA stands for Free Application for Financial Student Aid. It is a federal aid program run by the United States Government that connects students to loans, grants, and work study programs. Most U.S. citizens, nationals, and even some eligible noncitizen can apply. Most funds are awarded on need based criteria, however, students can also receive a Stafford loan regardless of income.
